Real stories Behind Disney Princesses will ruin your Childhood

when I was a kid I used to love fairy tales and always wanted a life that our Disney princess has, dreamt of the exciting journey and a Prince who will come someday and break the Glass ceiling, take me with him to the world where I always wanted to be, the things which I want to experience. Explore the world with someone who can guide and PROTECT me. just like the stories that Disney put into a young mind.

But guess what today I am 22 and still, I am watching Disney princesses but my perspective has changed a hell lot And I will never suggest any young Girl get inspired by the Disney fairy tales.

This is so weird to realize that everything was a lie, the stories, the hopes, the dream which you felt so real, growing up really sucks right?

Here you realize that there is no perfect prince charming, there is no one who can protect you in this world only you can help yourself. You are the one who can break the glass ceiling and dare to fly. there is no one who will hold your hand and take you to your desire world.

Growing up is where you realize that a princess is not someone who is weak and a doll inside a Glass but a warrior who needs to stand for herself at every situation and stand out breaking every norms and rule which society has set for them.

Here are some of the real stories Behind Disney princesses which ruin my childhood.

THE WITCH EXPELS RAPUNZEL AND THE PRINCE

The story of Rapunzel is based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. In their version, when the witch finds out about Rapunzel and the prince, she cuts off Rapunzel's hair and dangles it out the window. When the prince is confronted by her, he jumps out of the window and gets blind when he lands on thorns. He eventually finds Rapunzel, and she heals him with her tears.

Real version-  Rapunzel parents were not king and queen, they were the ordinary folks who lived next to the witch, and she did not steal the child, Rapunzel's parents promised the witch to give their child if it is a girl, so when Rapunzel was born the witch takes her to the tower to keep her safe from the world. so at last,

Rapunzel is the one who foolishly gives the prince away by admitting to the witch that her clothes are getting too tight for her around her waist (indicating pregnancy).

THE SLEEPING BEAUTY AND THE PRINCE

the story says that sleeping beauty was cursed and one day a prince came who falls for her and his true love and a gentle kiss break the curse of her eternal sleep and they live happily ever after.

Real version-  The perceforest one of the earliest versions of the sleeping beauty theme written 16th-century princess Zelladin falls in love with  Troylus when Troylus was gone, the princess falls into an enchanted sleep and when Troylus finds her, he Raped her and impregnates her in her sleep.

the newborn sucked out the flax that caused her sleep from her little finger and that's how she woke up.

THE LITTLE MERMAID(OR YOU CAN SAY, HEARTBROKEN MERMAID)

Ariel, the Little Mermaid, is based on the character from Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale. In this story, the Little Mermaid saves the prince from drowning, falls in love with him, and trades her beautiful voice to become a Human.

Real version- Everything comes with a price. every step she took was extremely painful. the prince marries another woman which he felt to be his savior and the little mermaid heartbroken throws herself into the sea and turns into a seafoam.

                                                     BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

The stories go, once upon a time there was an arrogant prince who got cursed and became a beast and the only way to break his curse was true love. years passed and one day a beautiful girl came to his kingdom and they both fall in love and the beast became a handsome prince again and they live happily ever after.

The real version- Beauty and the Beast was written by Madame Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve and published in 1740. She is believed to have been inspired by a real couple — Pedro and Catherine Gonsalvus. Pedro suffered from a rare genetic disorder, due to which his entire body was covered in thick hair.

Catherine supposedly did not see her groom before the wedding day. and of-course the husband did not turn into a handsome prince, and the couple ended up having 7 children.

                                                     THE PRINCESS IN FROZEN

The story about a princess who had the magic ability to turn things into the snow for which she got a lot of criticism and villagers announced her as a witch who is dangerous for the common people, listening to this she left her kingdom and made her own frozen palace far from her own town, later her sister finds her and bring her back to the kingdom where she plays a vital role to save his home from the intruder and they live happily ever after.

The real version-The queen in Frozen is based on the character of the Snow Queen in the fairy tale by  Hans Christian Andersen. She is the Queen of Snowflakes and lives in a frozen palace. She kidnaps a little boy, Kay, and enchants him with a kiss.

His friend Gerda saves him from the Queen's castle several years later.

                                                                  CINDERELLA

The stories say that the fairy godmother of Cinderella warns her to come back from the ball before twelve at the midnight otherwise her real identity will reveal and all of her beautiful looks, shining clothes, and shoes everything will turn back to the usual one she ran and in the rush she left one of her slippers on the stairs. the prince finds it and puts his search team behind her and then he found Cinderella, the girl who fits perfectly in that slipper and they got married and lived happily ever after.

first of all, we took this story so wrong, Cinderella never wished for a prince. she just wanted a nice dress and the freedom to attend the party.

Real version- In the Brothers Grimm version, one of Cinderella's stepsister cut off her toes and other her heel to fit into the glass slipper. the prince was notified by a little dove that there is blood on the shoe and later discovers that the true owner is Cinderella

The other thing is Cinderella doesn't have any fairy godmother .rather she plants a tree by her mother's grave and prays under it every day, she finds her mother's dress to wear in each one of the balls,(there are three and not one like in the movie)
and also she doesn't leave her shoes in the rush, the clever prince covers the steps in pitch to make her stick to them but she only loses her shoes in the process.

No doubt the real stories are darker than what Disney shows us and I understand that darker things should not reach to our children but I also feel that these princesses of Disney stories should not become a role model for the young girls these stories teach them to be dependent on a boy who will come one day and do everything for her she wants instead we as a society should teach our young girls that they are not someone who is meant to wait for the right person.

Its high time that we teach our Girls to be a warrior who can achieve things without depending on any prince and not a delicate princess closed inside a glass jar.
